Description
A medium-sized aluminum rudder head.
The rudder pin is equipped with a bayonet fitting, which ensures that it stays in place. Thanks to the strength and stability of the rudder head, it maintains maximum rudder effectiveness even in strong side winds.
The rudder head can be combined with two different sizes of rudder blades, with the SmartTrack Tandem (item number ST931) being the standard for sea kayaks.
The rudder head is delivered with the SmartTrack Cable Lock CRW (item number ST940) and the rudder lifting kit (item number ST-K900).
Specifications
- The distance from the sleeve's center to the transom must be a maximum of 31.5mm.
- The rudder head extends 94mm down from its mounting point.

Here is a video showing how to attach a rudder blade to SmartTrack's rudder heads. The video features the "Original" rudder head, but it is mounted in the same way on the "Compact":
If you have a kayak that is low in the stern, you may want to consider one of SmartTrack's rudder heads called "Race" or "Ski." If you want the rudder to extend further into the water, you should look at "Flow" or "Original," depending on how deep you want the rudder to go into the water.
