Description
The CRW cable lock works with cable or line up to 1.5 mm in diameter.
It’s designed to keep wear on your rudder line to a minimum. Inside the lock there’s a wedge that can be pushed back, making it easy to fine-tune the length of the rudder line without fighting knots or crimps.
If you want to remove the rudder for transport, you simply take off the retaining ring.
The kit includes:
- SmartTrack CRW Body (article number ST44-426)
- SmartTrack CRW Wedge (article number ST44-407)
- SmartTrack clevis pin for rudder head (article number ST44-519)
- SmartTrack retaining ring for rudder head (article number ST44-520)
- SmartTrack split pin for rudder head (article number ST44-509)
- SmartTrack shrink tube (article number ST43-811)
The CRW rudder cable locks are supplied as a pair.
Mounting instructions
Start by threading the cable/line through the shrink tube. Then feed it into the crescent-shaped CRW body via the small opening. Place the wedge into the large opening, wrap the cable around the wedge, and guide the cable back out again. Insert split pin ST44-509 and bend it over to hold the wedge in place.
Align the CRW cable lock with the rudder’s line attachment point, fit the clevis pin (ST44-519), and secure it with the retaining ring ST44-520.
Tension the cables to the desired position, trim the excess, and slide the shrink tube over the cable end. Heat the shrink tube with a hairdryer, or carefully with a lighter.
The CRW cable lock fits SmartTrack rudder heads: Original, Flow, Compact, Race, Ski and Ski-B, as well as other rudders with a hole that runs perpendicular to the direction of travel. If the hole runs lengthways, you’ll need an intermediate link (for example a key ring or shackle).
