Description
The SmartTrack Ski Rudder Head is a small, lightweight, strong, and popular aluminum rudder head that is used on a variety of kayaks and surf skis with a low stern..
Thanks to the strength and stability of the rudder head, it maintains maximum rudder effectiveness even in strong side winds. It also has a good rudder throw, providing excellent maneuverability. With the Ski model, the rudder springs up when paddling over an obstacle and is easy to retract when needed.
It can be combined with two different sizes of rudder blades, where the Single (item no. ST930) is the most common for recreational kayaks and surf skis. The Tandem (item no. ST931) is standard for sea kayaks or if you plan to paddle a surf ski/recreational kayak in rough conditions and need the best possible rudder performance.
The rudder head comes with the Cable Lock Kit CRW (ST940) and the Rudder Retract Kit ST-K900.
The rudder pin is equipped with a bayonet fitting to ensure that the rudder does not fall off by itself.
Specifications
- The distance from the center of the sleeve to the transom must be a maximum of 40mm.
- The rudder head extends 27mm below its mounting point.
Installation Instructions for Rudder Blades
Here are the installation instructions for how to attach rudder blades to SmartTrack's rudder heads. The video shows the rudder head "Original," but it is mounted in the same way on "Ski":
If you have a kayak with a lower stern, you may want the SmartTrack Rudder Head Ski-B. If you want the rudder to extend further into the water, you should consider Race, Compact, Flow, or Original depending on how deep you want the rudder to sit in the water.
The Ski rudder head can easily be converted to Ski-B by loosening the screws and placing the rudder head arm where the spacer ring Spacer Ski ST20-404 is located.
