Description
A traditional wooden Greenland paddle for touring and rolling that takes you back to the origins of kayaking.
This model is based on a traditional paddle from western Greenland. The paddle features an oval cross-section and marked shoulders at the transition between the shaft and the blade. The tips are reinforced with an epoxy mixture designed to mimic bone edge reinforcements and are luminescent in the dark.
The oval shape of the blades makes them slightly quieter during paddling compared to the diamond-shaped model from eastern Greenland. The marked shoulders facilitate hand placement.
NANOOK is made from Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata), a lightweight and beautiful wood. The shafts have pine inserts to increase stiffness. The paddles are treated with Chinese tung oil to protect the wood and provide a pleasant, non-slip surface to hold.
Paddling with a Greenland paddle is gentle on the muscles and joints. The long, narrow blade glides easily and quietly through the water and is also less affected by wind.
