Description
Greentip Hydra is a carbon wing paddle built for an efficient, clean forward stroke.
The teardrop-shaped blade and slightly scooped tip give you a confident catch. A gentle blade twist smooths out the load through the power phase, and the stroke finishes with an easy release at the exit.
You’ll feel straight away that this is a true wing paddle: it naturally wants to travel outwards away from the kayak. That outward path creates “lift” in the paddling sense — helping the blade translate your effort into forward drive, while encouraging good torso rotation.
(Here, “lift” works like an aircraft wing — but because of the blade angle moving through the water, the force is directed forwards rather than upwards.)
The Hydra’s shape is influenced by how proven wing blades move through the water, with a focus on stability, smoothness, and efficiency.
In Sweden, Hanna Höij won the national championships with the Hydra in 2019 in both surfski and marathon, and the same summer Jörgen Kard paddled around Gotland in under two days.
Experienced wing paddlers who test a lot of different paddles often come back to the Hydra for its balanced feel and predictable run.
The shaft has a long adjustment range of 15 cm, which makes it easier to use the same paddle across different kayaks — from narrower performance boats to wider touring setups.
Paddlespot Tip: Wing paddles reward a technical stroke. Start with a slightly shorter setting to find a relaxed cadence and clean exit, then fine-tune length as your rotation and catch feel more consistent.
The paddle is supplied with a padded bag (approx. value 299 SEK).
