A complete skeg system for your kayak.
This is Kajaksport’s latest skeg concept, and it’s become a firm favourite thanks to a clean, reliable design. Unlike many skeg systems, there’s no wire cable here. Instead, the skeg is controlled with a Dyneema line. The advantage is simple: a line runs with very low friction and won’t kink, while Dyneema is as stiff and hard-wearing as a cable. If you ever need to fine-tune it, the line length is easy to adjust.
The skeg is fitted with a stainless-steel spring that allows the blade to move upwards if you touch bottom while the skeg is deployed. That free movement helps prevent damage to both the skeg and the kayak.
Adjustment is done via a new low-profile skeg control, designed for a neat installation close to the cockpit. The control is precise in use and automatically locks in position to hold the skeg exactly where you set it. If your kayak doesn’t have a recessed area in the deck for the control, you can use an adapter box (KS521710,1) to make installation simpler.
This product is available in three different versions — the difference is the design of the skeg box.
