SmartTrack Footrest Recreational

Easy-to-adjust, good-value plastic footrests for kayaks without a rudder.

SmartTrack is one of the most widely used footrest systems, largely because adjusting the leg length is quick and straightforward. You can change the position yourself while seated in the cockpit, and an instructor can just as easily adjust it from outside the kayak.

Mounting

There are two common ways to fit footrest tracks in a kayak:

1. If your kayak has factory-laminated mounting bolts with matching nuts, you can use those. If you’re building a kayak and laminating your own mounts, we recommend a mounting bolt from Kajaksport (article number KS501117,1).
2. If your kayak doesn’t have laminated-in mounting bolts, you can through-bolt the hull. Mount using 4x through-bolts (article number ST44-528), 4x nuts (article number ST44-531), and 4x seals (article number ST43-802).

If you want to bring the tracks closer to the centreline, you can use spacer blocks (article number ST20-438) between the hull and the tracks during installation.

Can be converted to rudder pedals

The SmartTrack Footrest Recreational can be converted to rudder pedals if needed. You’ll need one “SmartTrack Male for Fine Adjustment Screw” (article number ST20-459) per pedal, two “SmartTrack Spring for Toe Pedal, New Model” (article number ST44-541) per pedal, plus one “SmartTrack Toe Pedal Right” (article number ST20-478) and one “SmartTrack Toe Pedal Left” (article number ST20-477).
