Description
Performance is SmartTrack's most exclusive rudder pedals and features fine-tuning screws on the rear edge of the rail (closest to the stern). Available in two variants: "Standard" and "With Barrel Lock Adjuster."
SmartTrack's rudder pedals have a fixed footrest combined with toe control. SmartTrack is one of the most popular rudder pedals on the market, largely due to the ease of adjusting the leg length to the pedals. This can be done smoothly by the paddler while seated in the kayak or by an instructor standing beside them.
SmartTrack's rudder pedals provide excellent rudder response compared to pedals from other manufacturers. The design of the pedals allows the rudder line to be self-adjusting.
SmartTrack Performance Rudder Pedals have fine-tuning screws on the rear edge of the rail (closest to the stern). With the fine-tuning screws, you can adjust the rudder to stand straight by turning one side or the other. If you tighten both screws, the toe pedals will move closer to the paddler, allowing the paddler to customize the position of the pedals according to their own preferences.
The two variants
- "Standard" comes with SmartTrack's rudder wire (item number ST945). It is also possible to use a rudder line instead of the rudder wire if desired.
- The variant "With Barrel Lock Adjuster" comes with a wire approximately 50cm long that ends with a fine-tuning screw. From the fine-tuning screw, you can link further with line or wire back to your rudder. The advantage of this solution is that you get a more accessible fine-tuning option in the cockpit. Please note that SmartTrack rudder wire (item number ST945) is not included with this variant, only with the standard.
Installation
There are two ways to install pedal rails in kayaks:
- If the kayak has permanently laminated mounting bolts with corresponding nuts, you can use these. You will also need to use a "SmartTrack Height Adjustment Plate for Pedals" (item number ST948). You then mount the pedal to the height adjustment plate with a screw (item number ST44-530) and then attach the plate to the fixed mounts in the kayak with the corresponding nuts. If you are building a kayak and plan to laminate your own mounts, we recommend a mounting bolt from Kajaksport (item number KS501117,1).
- If there are no permanently laminated mounting bolts in the kayak, you can use through screws through the hull. Then install with 4 through screws (item number ST44-528), 4 nuts (item number ST44-531), and 4 seals (item number ST43-802).
