Thule Hullavator Pro

A kayak carrier with lift assist that takes 18 kg of the kayak’s weight, so you can load and unload on your own.

Thule Hullavator Pro combines a lift-assist system with a stable kayak cradle, making solo loading and unloading far more manageable. Gas-assisted struts do the heavy lifting for you, reducing the load by 18 kg. If your kayak weighs more than that, you simply guide the remaining weight up in a controlled way.

The twin extension arms lower the kayak by up to one metre, so you can strap it in at waist height before lifting it onto the roof. Once the kayak is up, the included Thule QuickDraw tie-downs are a good finishing touch for bow and stern tensioning, adding stability and peace of mind on the road.

During both transport and loading, the kayak sits securely on eight padded contact points that help protect the hull. The cradles can be widened to suit broader kayaks, and the whole system is built in a robust aluminium and steel construction with a double-coated finish for long-term corrosion resistance.

If you want to handle roof loading without needing a second pair of hands, this is a practical solution. We recommend Hullavator Pro primarily for plastic (polyethylene) kayaks.

Paddlespot Tip: Before your first long drive, do a short test run and re-check strap tension after 10–15 minutes. Small shifts are normal as the kayak settles into the pads.
