The Mariner is a simpler life jacket that is well-suited for the average boater and vacation sailor. If you plan to use the life jacket for paddling, we recommend a model with a tighter fit.
The front of the life jacket features segmented buoyancy material. It includes an external zippered pocket, a drawstring and zipper at the front, as well as a waist strap with a quick-release buckle. With a buoyancy of 50N, it is classified as a buoyancy aid. Life jackets with a buoyancy of 50 Newtons, sometimes referred to as sailing vests, have a somewhat simpler design compared to rescue vests. A 50N life jacket will keep you afloat with a good margin but lacks a collar for head support. The buoyancy is more evenly distributed between the front and back, and therefore it does not guarantee the ability to turn an unconscious person onto their back.
