Description

A traditional wooden Greenland paddle for touring and rolling, taking you back to the origins of kayak paddling.

This model is based on traditional paddles from western Greenland. Unlike the original Nanook, this "Bone Edge" version has epoxy-reinforced blade tips. The paddle has an oval cross-section and distinct shoulders at the transition between the shaft and paddle blade.

The oval shape of the blades makes them a bit quieter during paddling compared to the diamond-shaped model from east Greenland. The distinct shoulders provide a natural hand placement.

The NANOOK is made from Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata), a lightweight and beautiful type of wood. The shafts have pine inlays to make them stiffer. The paddles are treated with Chinese tung oil to protect the wood and provide a comfortable and grippable surface.

Paddling with a Greenland paddle is gentle on muscles and joints. The slim blade glides easily and quietly through the water and is not sensitive to wind.
