Description
A two-piece Greenland paddle in Western Red Cedar.
This model is based on a traditional paddle from Western Greenland. It has an oval shaft section and clearly defined shoulders where the loom meets the blades. The oval blade profile is a little quieter in the water than the diamond-shaped style from East Greenland, and the shoulders make it easier to find a consistent hand position.
The split is a high-quality ferrule made by the Finnish manufacturer Kajaksport, making the paddle easier to transport and store without compromising the feel on the water.
NANOOK is made from Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) — a light, good-looking timber with a pleasant natural feel. Pine inserts in the shafts add stiffness where it matters. The paddle is finished with Chinese tung oil to protect the wood and give a secure, comfortable grip.
Paddling with a Greenland paddle is kind to muscles and joints. The long, narrow blade slips smoothly and quietly through the water, and it’s less affected by wind than wider blades.
