Complete Skeg System for your Kayak.
This is the latest Skeg concept from Kajaksport which has become incredibly popular due to its well-functioning design. Unlike many other types of Skeg systems, this one doesn’t use wire. Instead, a Dyneema rope has been chosen for controlling the Skeg. The advantage of this is that the rope has low friction and doesn’t kink, while at the same time Dyneema is as stiff and durable as a wire. The length can be adjusted if needed.
The Skeg is equipped with a stainless steel spring which, when the Skeg is deployed, allows for free movement upwards when it touches the bottom. This way damage to the Skeg and Kayak is avoided.
The Skeg is controlled with a new type of control unit which allows for a smooth installation close to the cockpit. The control element is precise and elegant in its function and locks automatically to keep the Skeg in the right position. For Kayaks that don’t have a deck recess, this adapter box can be used (KS521710.1). An adapter box makes the installation of the Skeg control element easier.
