Vertical adjustment plates for SmartTrack foot brace rails.
These adjustment plates let you raise or lower the position of your rudder pedals. For many paddlers, that small change is what makes the pedal easier to reach—improving leg support, comfort, and control on longer days.
If you’re using a SmartTrack Performance rail with glassed-in mounting studs/bolts in the kayak, you’ll need these vertical adjustment plates as the mounting interface for the rail.
If you want the rail closer to the centreline, spacer blocks (part no. ST20-438) can be fitted between the hull and the adjustment plates.
Mounting
Start by attaching the rail to the adjustment plate using two screws (part no. ST44-530) and two nuts (part no. ST44-531) per rail. Then mount the plate into the kayak.
There are two common ways to mount foot brace rails in a kayak:
- If the kayak has glassed-in mounting bolts with matching nuts, you can use those. In this setup you also use a “SmartTrack Vertical Adjustment Plate for pedals” (part no. ST948). Mount the pedal/rail to the adjustment plate with a screw (part no. ST44-530), then secure the plate onto the kayak’s fixed mounts using the matching nuts. If you’re building a kayak and laminating your own mounts, a Kajaksport mounting bolt (part no. KS501117,1) is recommended.
- If there are no glassed-in mounting bolts, use through-bolts through the hull. Mount with 4 through-bolts (part no. ST44-528), 4 nuts (part no. ST44-531), and 4 seals (part no. ST43-802).
Paddlespot tip: Adjust in small steps. You’re aiming for solid foot contact with relaxed knees—enough bend for support, without overreaching the pedals.
