Kajaksport is one of the most common hatch cover brands, used as original equipment by many kayak manufacturers thanks to its consistent quality. This model is made from two different materials, giving the cover a solid, supportive feel while still allowing it to stretch neatly over the rim without a struggle. Compared with traditional rubber hatch covers, the big advantage is lower weight.
These covers have been proven over many seasons on the water and are built for a long service life. There are attachment points for a safety strap on both the inside and the outside.
Please note: this type of hatch cover is primarily recommended for fibreglass kayaks.
Which size should you choose?
Choosing the right hatch cover size isn’t always straightforward. The size listed isn’t the hatch cover’s outer measurement, as you might expect — it’s intended to represent the size of the kayak’s hatch opening.
To choose the correct size, measure the outside dimensions of the hatch rim (coaming). Measure the longest length and the widest width, then use the diagram below to find the closest match. Measure carefully — in some cases, the difference between sizes is small.
If you have a kayak from P&H, Valley, Impex or Necky, you should instead look at that hatch cover in size 41/22 cm.
