Kajaksport is the most common brand of kayak hatches and is used by most kayak manufacturers as original equipment due to its high quality. This model is made from two different materials, which makes the hatch stiff without making it difficult to fit over the rim. The advantage of these hatches is that they weigh less than traditional rubber hatches. There are attachment points for safety lines on both the inside and outside.
Please note that this type of hatch is primarily recommended for fiberglass kayaks. Do you have a kayak from P&H, Valley, Impex, or Necky? Then it is common that you instead need this hatch in size 19.5cm.
Which size should you choose?
Choosing the right size hatch is not always straightforward. The measurements provided are not the diameter of the hatch, as one might assume. They are intended to represent the size of the opening on the kayak.
To choose the right size hatch for your kayak, you need to measure the outer diameter of the rim where the hatch will sit. Then use our size chart below to find the correct size. Be sure to measure carefully, as in some cases there may not be much difference between sizes. Please note that this product is not available in sizes 10cm and 19.5cm.
