Kajaksport is the most common brand of storage hatches for kayaks and is primarily used by most kayak manufacturers due to its high quality. This model is made of two different materials, making the hatch stiff but not more difficult to put over the edge. The advantage of these hatches is that they have a lower weight than conventional rubber storage hatches. There are attachment points for securing lines both inside and outside.
Note that this type is especially suitable for fiberglass kayaks. Do you have a kayak from PH, Valley, Impex or Necky? Then it is usually customary to choose the storage hatch in size 19.5 cm.
Which size should you choose?
Choosing the right hatch size is not always easy. The stated measurements are not the measurements of the hatch, as one might assume, but they represent the size of the opening on the kayak.
To choose the right size of hatch, you need the measurements of the outside diameter where the hatch should be inserted. Then use the following size table to find the right size. Be sure to measure carefully as the difference between the different sizes can be very small in some cases. Please note that this product is not available in sizes 10 cm and 19.5 cm.
